Our History

DVF Foodservice began operations as a broad-line foodservice distributor in Danville, Virginia in 1990.  The business was created by the merger of two older food companies in Danville: Canada Produce and J.W. Wyatt Company. Canada Produce Company was a 5+ year old company in Danville, with an inventory of fresh produce and dairy products.  The J.W. Wyatt Company focused on selling food items to retail and chain grocery stores. In 1982, K. Gary Carter and Donnie H. Stevens jointly purchased Canada Produce Company.  Eight years later, in 1990 the J.W. Wyatt Company was purchased and merged with Canada Produce to form Dan Valley Foods.  In 2000, the name was changed to DVF Foodservice.  K. Gary Carter was president of the company from 1982 until his retirement in 1996.  Donnie H. Stevens became acting CEO and President in 1996.

Over the past several years DVF Foodservice has implemented several value-added programs to help in building customer relationships and loyalty. The first program that was implemented was Servi-Chem Systems, a ware-wash laundry and equipment program.  Later DVF Beverage, a coffee, tea, water and beverage program with equipment was created.  Most recently, The Market, an on- site retail cash and carry, opened its doors.  The focus of The Market was and continues to be the servicing of small businesses and individual retail consumers.

DVF Foodservice consistently strives to meet their goal of providing their customers with a quality independently- owned, full service foodservice distributor in their own back yard, with the hope that customers will realize that all dollars that they choose to spend with DVF stays locally and will come back to compliment their own businesses and the community.

At the present time, DVF Foodservice employs over 60 employees.
